Retractable glass roofs extend the season by the sea
Two retractable glass roofs were installed at Sillen och Makrillen restaurant in Helsingborg around 15 years ago, one facing north and one west.
Both roofs are Un-insulated and motorised. In fine weather, they open to create an airy terrace. When rain arrives, they close so guests can keep enjoying their food and sea views under cover.
The installation makes the restaurant less dependent on the weather and extends its outdoor dining season. With suitable wind protection and heating, the spaces can also be used during colder parts of the year.
Well worth a visit
Sillen och Makrillen is well worth visiting for its food and seaside setting.
